Kiroli Park | West Monroe, Louisiana Wedding | Caitlin and James

West Monroe Louisiana Kiroli Park Wedding Photo-1

“Is it for now or for always,
The world hangs on a stalk?
Is it a trick or a trysting-place,
The woods we have found to walk?

Is it a mirage or miracle,
Your lips that lift at mine:
And the suns like a juggler’s juggling-balls,
Are they a sham or a sign?

Shine out, my sudden angel,
Break fear with breast and brow,
I take you now and for always,
For always is always now.”

-Philip Larkin, Is It For Now or Always

There are a few people that you meet in life that you just like instantly.  There were about 100 of those people at Caitlin and James’ insanely fun wedding at Kiroli Park in West Monroe, Louisiana just a couple of weekends ago.   There are always a few special memories that stand out for me at every wedding, little things that other people may not notice.. for instance, how kind-hearted and gentle both Caitlin and James’ parents were.  Which explains a lot about Caitlin and James, because they are really darn awesome humans.  But it didn’t end with Caitlin and James and their parents.  Everyone who I met was not only at this wedding to celebrate (and let me just say, these guys had a mega-ton of fun), but they were also there to help.  There were so many people doing so many little things that everything seemed practically effortless.  Which obviously I know a wedding can’t be.  But from my outsider-observer vantage point, Caitlin and James’ wedding felt light and effortless and buoyant.  Also, this wedding wins the Best Bowties Award.  But you’re not here to read, so check out these photos of their day and see for yourself…

And that, internet, is how the couple with the best dance moves you’ve ever seen has an epic spring time wedding in West Monroe, Louisiana.  Caitlin and James, I am so grateful that you included me as a part of your story.  And I’m very glad that I had the chance to get to know you and your families and friends.  I am amazed by you all, and I thank everyone for being so gracious and thoughtful and kind to me while I was with you.  To everyone, I wish you endless love and joy and good fortune.

Caitlin and James’ Creative Team

(Because Caitlin and James had such great comments about their vendors and experiences, I’m leaving their comments in for you to read and benefit from.) Sourcing items from independent retailers was really important for us…and we used local vendors when possible. Etsy in particular was an AMAZING resource and the sellers there were fantastic. We used APW to guide us for other vendors (including you, yay!!!) We also did a lot of the work ourselves. Weddings are truly a labor of love and we couldn’t have done it without the amazing vendors below- including you!

Catering (including cake) by Cilantro Bistro, Monroe, LA. Cilantro Bistro is Monroe’s health food store, and Sue (the chef) and Angie (the owner) there have been AMAZING. A blended vegan-from-Michigan/not-vegan-from-Texas wedding is no small feat to pull off, but Sue made it easy!! She also runs a lunch cafe during the week.

Dress from B. Ella Bridal, Plymouth, MI, and is made by Mori Lee

Alterations by Jan Lee, Ann Arbor MI.  She works out of an awesome bridal resale shop that contributes its profits to cancer research in Ann Arbor. I should have made an appointment there to shop for dresses but impulsively bought one elsewhere on my first day out…Jan does amazing work (she also rescued me from a terrible bridesmaid situation when my dress arrived and totally didn’t fit at ALL):

Bridesmaid’s dresses from ModCloth
Tuxes from Men’s Warehouse
Bowties from Etsy seller AmandaJoHandmade,  and fabric was ordered from Spoonflower.
Bracelets on ladies are from Etsy seller SimplySweetStudio,  and earrings from Etsy seller ShopNestled.
Wedding bands from Bario-Neal (APW sponsor!).
Venue is Kiroli Park, West Monroe, LA.
Invitation suite was designed by StampOutOnline.
And we made all the paper goods ourselves, with supplies from Paper Source.
Hair was done at Salon Royale in Monroe, LA, Katie is my stylist!
Music was provided by the Jack Jones Trio, Monroe, LA.
We arranged the flowers ourselves, but got them from Carlstedt’s in Monroe.
