Kamille and Ted: Charleston Wedding Photographer

Charleston

“Do you hear me? I’m talking to you
Across the water across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky, oh my, baby I’m trying

Boy I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard

I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again”

-Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat

Kamille and Ted:  Circular Congregational Church Wedding in Charleston, South Carolina

This is a blog post that I know a lot of you guys have been waiting for.  After all, who doesn’t want to know more about the nicest couple in the world? That’s right, this is the wedding of Kamille and Ted, the winners of the Just For Nice People, Kick Ass, Free Wedding Photography Giveaway.

It was really a lot of fun to get to know Kamille and Ted.  They really are the kind of people who put giving first.  In fact, they told me that it was hard for them to ask for help with voting in the giveaway, but luckily they didn’t really need to.. because once their family and friends found out about the giveaway and the voting, the word spread fast and everyone wanted a chance to help the people who had always helped them.  You can read their story in their own words from their engagement session.

Their ceremony was in the historic Circular Church in downtown Charleston.  The church interior is actually circular, which is pretty cool.  I was told that it was built that way so that the devil couldn’t corner you inside.  Seems reasonable to me.

Kamille and Ted had so many personal touches to their wedding and ceremony.  Because there are so many family members in the various branches of the military, there were uniforms everywhere.  A bagpiper provided the music for the bride’s processional.  And they didn’t stop there, they left the church through a ceremonial saber arch. These two have style.

After the ceremony, it was a short walk to the reception at Marion’s in the French Quarter.  There were touching toasts by friends and family, and even a toast delivered by song.  And then there was the dancing, lots of dancing, and the world’s funniest garter toss.  Take a look.

And that, my dear interweb friends, is how the world’s nicest couple has the world’s coolest wedding.  It was unquestionably a perfect day.

Kamille and Ted, I want to thank you and your families and friends for being so welcoming and just generally wonderful to spend the day with.  Coral and Chelsea, you guys are a hoot.  Thanks for keeping everyone laughing.  Thank you Kamille and Ted for inviting me to experience the love and joy of a beautiful day surrounded by the warmth of your love for each other.

So now the Just For Nice People, Kick Ass, Free Wedding Photography Giveaway has come to an end.  There aren’t enough words in my vocabulary to express how amazing this entire experience has been.  I decided to have this giveaway on a whim, and that whim became an experience that has changed how I approach my work in so many ways.  I’ve learned that people can surprise you in wonderful ways, and that kindness is alive and burning strong all around the world.  I learned that there are people out there who will make real sacrifices to help others.  And I learned that people are grateful for small kindnesses and will willingly and happily reciprocate if given the opportunity.

Most importantly, I learned that theres a LOT of nice people out there.  A whole lot of them.  You’re probably one of them.  And if you’re a nice person, and you’re planning to get married next year, I’m going to suggest that you keep being nice and keep reading my blog.  Hint.  Hint.  And if you’re not getting married next year, but you know a really nice person who is, you should probably suggest to them to read my blog.  Hint.  Hint.

And that concludes today’s blog post.  Tune in again for more awesome photos from Charleston of an engagement session with the world’s coolest teachers.  True story.
