Thompson Island NP Boston Wedding | Emma and Paul

Thompson Island Outward Bound Boston Wedding | Emma and Paul

“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird.  And when we find someone whose mutual weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it Love.” – Dr. Seuss

Today I want to tell you the story of Emma and Paul’s fabulous National Park wedding on the historic and gorgeous Thompson Island, an island in the Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area. Earlier this spring, I met Emma and Paul at another National Park to make their engagement photos at Lake Mead NRA. And that’s pretty much when I decided they were the coolest people ever. It’s not every day that I meet people who love the National Park system as much as I do. But Emma and Paul have a long history with the park system. They actually met at Mt. Rainier National Park, and that’s why instead of a traditional bouquet of flowers, Emma carried a paper bouquet made of a map of Mt. Rainier. And Paul proposed to Emma at another NPS location, the Jefferson Memorial. They told me this story about the proposal, “Paul surprised Emma while admiring the cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin in Washington DC.  He proposed in front of a million people, in front of the Jefferson Memorial.  Some college girls caught on, and made him do it again so they could take a picture.  Emma was mortified and immediately told Paul they had to run away from there.” Besides their equally obsessive love of the park system, the other thing I seriously love about Emma and Paul is how much fun they have together. They have a really playful relationship that is full of super awesome dance moves and lots and lots of laughing. So check out their laughter and dance and donut and hugs and all-things-New England filled wedding day photos. Also, I got a great shot of Emma’s mom levitating on the dance floor. She was an amazing dancer, and I’m really proud of that shot. Congratulations Emma and Paul! You guys are the best.
