Today I want to tell you the story of Kami and Lynn’s intimate and elegant yacht wedding on the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale. One of the things I’ve observed about weddings over the years is that a wedding day is an excellent metaphor for a relationship in many ways. A wedding day is selected months in advance, and while you can plan and hope for the best of everything, on the actual day of the wedding, you must make the best of whatever happens. Fortunately, mostly wonderful things happen on most wedding days, but occasionally Mother Nature might toss a little touch of tropical storm your way. Watching Kami and Lynn navigate their day with joy and grace and a willingness to get a little damp to make a few photos here and there was a bit like looking into their past or future. No little bit of rain could ruffle them, in fact it seemed like their eyes may have glowed brighter because of it. You could see how much strength they have together, and how they share it back and forth between them. And so they were married on a ship at sea by the ship’s captain, and after the ceremony they had dinner surrounded by family and friends, and many kind and loving champagne toasts were made. And finally, there was dancing all the way back to the dock. So much dancing. And by the time we got back, the rain was gone. Congratulations Kami and Lynn! You truly are perfect together.
